• The keypad lights up but won’t release the gate. This is almost always the relay on the keypad board or a failed wire at the hinge side of the gate. The keypad is sending a code, but the control board never receives the open signal. We test for continuity, not guesswork.

Intercom boards run line voltage and the capacitors hold charge long after the unit is unplugged. That is the honest safety line. If the keypad or intercom is inside a gate operator cabinet, do not work in there with the operator powered. Automated gates move without warning, and the motor and capacitor inside that cabinet can injure you.
